Escape to New Sky Full Fibre

Bespoke Structural Staging & Atmospheric Wind FX for Sky Broadband

MACHINESHOP fabricated the advanced practical motion systems and atmospheric components for the “Escape to New Sky Full Fibre” commercial campaign for Sky Broadband. Developed to capture an ethereal, gravity-defying visual aesthetic for high-end promotional media, the print assets rely on seamless real-world physics to create the sensation of floating effortlessly above the grid.

Our workshop brought this dreamy visual concept to life by constructing a specialized mechanical chair rig and custom prop clouds designed to mimic flying in the sky. The behind-the-scenes logs capture the meticulous load testing, structural metal welding, and targeted wind coordination required to execute these complex aerial plates flawlessly under the photographer’s lens.

Advanced Mechanical Staging & Practical Wind Rigs

Orchestrating a safe, perfectly balanced cantilever system and realistic environmental aerodynamics on a live soundstage demands strict weight distribution calculations and fine airflow modulation:

  • Bespoke Floating Chair Rig: Custom-building a heavy-duty, low-profile internal steel support arm to elevate the talent safely, maintaining absolute structural stability during long exposure plates.
  • Hyper-Realistic Prop Clouds: Designing and texturing lightweight, high-volume organic prop cloud layers that blend seamlessly with studio lighting to establish a convincing high-altitude backdrop.
  • Targeted 2ft Handheld Wind Fans: Deploying powerful, high-velocity 2ft handheld fans to allow our on-set technicians to dynamically track wardrobe placement, generating organic fabric lift and hair movement on cue.
