Bespoke Practical Rigging & Suitcase Puppeteering for Go.Compare’s “Feel the Tache”
MACHINESHOP designed, engineered, and executed the custom practical special effects and on-set tracking rigs for Go.Compare’s “Feel the Tache” commercial campaign. Developed alongside leading industry creatives, this high-energy broadcast spot relies on dynamic, synchronized practical physics to launch characters and props into their holiday journeys in-camera. Our workshop brought the main comedic stunt to life, managing the puppeteering of suitcases to make them fly and land perfectly inside a car boot on cue. The embedded campaign film and behind-the-scenes videos showcase the meticulous technical tracking, line rigging, and live timing required to pull off these playful physical actions flawlessly without catching the mechanics on camera.
Advanced Mechanical Stunt Rigging & Practical Prop Manipulation
Projecting large luggage props smoothly and predictably through the air into a tight vehicle trunk space demands precise tension calibration, hidden guidance mechanics, and highly coordinated puppetry:
- Bespoke Suitcase Launch & Tracking Rigs: Custom-engineering discrete line rigs to smoothly propel and guide heavy suitcases through mid-air.
- Live On-Set Object Puppeteering: Coordinating millisecond-precise manual pulls and tracking by our special effects technicians to ensure the luggage lands with realistic weight and alignment in the car boot.
- Strict Take-to-Take Technical Continuity: Engineering a rapidly reset framework, enabling the floor crew to execute fast scene reloads and maintain identical flight paths across multiple frames.
