Bespoke Motorised Prop Engineering for Amazon Prime’s “Last One Laughing UK” Season 2

MACHINESHOP designed, engineered, and fabricated a highly specialized mechanical prop gag for Season 2 of the hit global comedy series “Last One Laughing UK”. Operating on a fast-paced unscripted soundstage where the primary objective is to catch celebrity contestants off guard, our team built a custom remote-controlled motorized pouffe designed to look completely innocent before launching into drive.

Bespoke Prop Making & Mechanical Gag Engineering

The creative brief required building a mechanical set piece that could blend seamlessly into the background for most of the series, looking completely static. When the timing was perfect, host Jimmy Carr could trigger the system to go for a ride:

• Hidden RC Motorised Drive Base: Engineering a low-profile, high-torque robotic drive platform completely concealed beneath custom upholstery padding.
• Seamless Furniture Integration: Working closely with the art department to match the fabric textures, seams, and dimensions of the studio’s main seating arrangements to eliminate suspicion.
• Wireless Variable Speed Control: Programming an integrated remote control receiver to allow special effects operators to trigger smooth, rapid, or sudden movements on a live cue.
